Tired of quick tips that give you unrealistic goals or that leave you exhausted? Maybe it is time to break a sweat to make some changes in your life. You’ve heard the saying, “No Pain, No Gain,” getting to a healthier lifestyle is no different. Here are some changes from trainer Jillian Michaels that require a little more than a week to see lasting results.

Change : your mind

Sometimes it really is “all in your head.” Take the action to change it! If you feel like you won’t be able to change, your mind will prevent you from your goals. Build on your self-esteem and let yourself know that you can change for the better.

Change : your goals

Take a look at the goals you’ve made for yourself. Are they reachable within a reasonable time limit? Take some time to think about what you want, and how you can get it. Make an action plan!

Change : your eating habits

Stock up your kitchen with foods that are organic, protein rich, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Plan some healthy meals, and look up some great healthy recipes.

Change : your workout

Get moving! Set up a workout plan to get fit and burn off fat and calories. Some exercises may be too extreme, so try to to find a fitness routine that is comfortable for you. Set up a schedule and try to follow it the best you can!

Make-up: the tools for beautification. How long are you holding onto certain beauty tools, and has bacteria made a home on them? Huffington Post shares how long you should keep key beauty products before bacteria has a chance to gather.

- Stick concealers/Concealers with wands: Concealers should only be kept in your beauty case for up to a year

- Liquid Eye Makeup (Eye Liner, Mascara): The FDA suggests tossing these products out every 3 months, they can harvest many bacteria and give you a pink eye that won’t be cute

- Foundation: Every six months

- Sponges: Once a week

- Brushes: Clean after each use

- Lipstick: Every 2 years

- Powdered Makeup: Every 2 years

- “The more water in a product, the better chance bacteria have of breeding and surviving.” - Discovery Health

Do you want to provide your body with the best? The teeth are vital, they aid in the essential processes of eating and talking. Sometimes brushing is not enough. Incorporate these particular items to your cuisine for stronger, whiter and brighter teeth.

Are you an outdoorsy person? Studies show that people who regularly go outside have better vision than others who stay indoors. Recommended times to bathe in the sunshine are “in the morning before 11:00 am or after 3:00 pm.” The sun helps the eyes to loosen up, and any tearing that occurs is good for the eyes!

"…regularly eating foods that use organic brown rice syrup as a main ingredient could expose a person to more arsenic than the government allows in drinking water, raising the risks for cancer and heart disease"

Toxic levels of arsenic were recorded from energy bars, energy gels and infant and toddler formula. They were shown to be fine in occasional eaters. The darker color of brown rice causes it to have more of the colorless, tasteless, arsenic than white rice.

*Omega-3s: “These fats are a key component of the lubricating layer that keeps skin supple, and they aid in the production of hormones that improve skin texture and help combat the inflammatory damage wrought by free radicals—one of the causes of wrinkles and blotchiness.” Find them in nuts, seeds and fish, like salmon.

*Vitamin B3: “This B vitamin, commonly known as niacinamide, helps boost production of the compounds that comprise your skin’s outer barrier, which helps it lock in moisture better. The ingredient is also shown to help reduce redness in rosacea patients and is especially helpful if you have dry or sensitive skin.” Get your B’s from roasted chicken breast, mushrooms and even steak!

*Vitamin E: “This powerful vitamin eases dry skin (by helping skin retain its natural moisturizers) and bolsters UV defense. A slew of skin care studies document its superstar status. In one, E significantly reduced the number of skin-damaging free radicals created after exposure to cigarette smoke. Others show that when it’s used before UV exposure, skin is less red, swollen, and dry, which is why the ingredient is often included in sunscreens.” Load up on vitamin E with sunflower seeds, almonds, and olives.
